Derek Shu: Derek Shu is a full time AP Literature and Composition student at William Mason High School. An 11-year piano student, Derek has mastered the technique and nuances of playing the piano, giving his first solo recital at age 11, earning the ABRSM Diploma in Piano Performance with Distinction, and placing highly in numerous local and statewide competitions. When absent from competing, he donates his time and talents to his high school Wind Symphony Orchestra, church, youth group, and nursing homes. He co-captains his school's top-ranked Science Olympiad team, where he continues to excel at his main events Water Quality and Materials Science.
